Beautifully coloured chromo-lithographic plate from 1895 with detailed illustrations of 14 fish species including the Great white shark (Carcharias vulgaris), the porcupine fish (Diodon tigrinus) and seahorse (Hippocampus). This plate originates from 'Wagner's Natuurlijk Historie', a book about natural history which was originally written by the German biologist Herman Wagner and translated into Dutch by D. Horn.

 

This exquisite 127-year-old plate is in excellent condition and comes with a pre-cut high quality matboard with a steel blue coloured top layer. The matboard is acid-free, protecting the print.
