This beautiful bright coloured chromolithographic plate is from the first edition of an antique atlas describing all butterflies, caterpillars and moths in the Netherlands in the early 1900's.

 

This 109-year-old print is in excellent condition and has 6 illustrations of moths and larva, including the death head's hawk moth.

 

The numbers below correspond with the numbers on the plate:

1. Acherontia atropos L. The Death’s head hawk moth.
2. Dilina tiliae L. Lime hawk moth.
3. Smerinthus ocellata L. Eyed hawk moth.
4. Smerinthus populi L. Poplar hawk moth.

 

The pre-cut high quality matboard has a shiny golden top layer, and is acid-free, protecting the print.
