Antique chromo lithograph of the Laelio orchid, 1902
This colourful and detailed chromolithographic plate of the Laelio (Cattleya xanthina x Gaskelliiana, hort. Schoenbr.) orchid comes from the 1902 edition of the Wiener Illustrierte Garten-Zeitung, the illustrated Viennese horticultural magazine published by the Austrian Kaiserlich-Königliche Gartenbau-Gesellschaft.
The magazines were authored and edited by Alfred Burgerstein (1850-1929), a botanist, teacher and and secretary-general of the Gartenbaugesellschaft.
This exquisite 122-year-old plate is in excellent condition and comes with a pre-cut high quality matboard with a light sage-green coloured top layer. The matboard is acid-free, protecting the print.
The image you see is a photograph of the actual item.
