Antique chromo lithograph of the Vanda insignis orchid, 1903

This colourful and detailed chromolithographic plate of Vanda insignis orchid comes from the 1903 edition of the Wiener Illustrierte Garten-Zeitung, the illustrated Viennese horticultural magazine published by the Austrian Kaiserlich-Königliche Gartenbau-Gesellschaft. 

The magazines were authored and edited by Alfred Burgerstein (1850-1929), a botanist, teacher and and secretary-general of the Gartenbaugesellschaft.

This exquisite 119-year-old plate is in a very good condition and comes with a pre-cut high quality matboard with a light sage-green coloured top layer. The matboard is acid-free, protecting the print.
