Beautifully coloured chromo-lithographic plate from 1895 with 18 detailed illustrations of reptiles and amphibians, including the Hawksbill sea turtle (Chelonia imbricata), the Nile crocodile (Crocodilus vulgaris) and Boa constrictor. This plate originates from 'Wagner's Natuurlijk Historie', a book about natural history which was originally written by the German biologist Herman Wagner and translated into Dutch by D. Horn.


This exquisite 127 year old plate is in excellent condition and comes with a pre-cut high quality matboard with a shiny golden top layer. The matboard is acid-free, protecting the print.
