Antique chromo lithograph of wild animals, 1895

Beautifully coloured chromo-lithographic plate from 1895 with 17 detailed illustrations of hoofed mammals and sea mammals, including the bowhead whale (Balaena mysticetus), walrus, elephant, giraffe, zebra and more. This plate originates from 'Wagner's Natuurlijk Historie', a book about natural history which was originally written by the German biologist Herman Wagner and translated into Dutch by D. Horn.

This exquisite 127-year-old plate is in excellent condition and comes with a pre-cut high quality matboard with a white linen top layer. The matboard is acid-free, protecting the print.
