Beautifully coloured chromo-lithographic plate from 1895 with 20 detailed illustrations of primates, bats, predators and more, including the polar bear (Ursus maritimus), wolf (canis lupus) and orangutan (Pythecus Satyrus / Pongo pygmaeus). This plate originates from 'Wagner's Natuurlijk Historie', a book about natural history which was originally written by the German biologist Herman Wagner and translated into Dutch by D. Horn.

 

This exquisite 127-year-old plate is in excellent condition and comes with a pre-cut high quality matboard with a white top layer. The matboard is acid-free, protecting the print.
