Antique coloured plate of "The Fair One with the Golden Locks", 1913

Easily style your kid's room with this exquisite tipped-in coloured plate with vibrant colours and incredible detail, including a fierce dragon. This plate depicts the story of "The Fair One with the Golden Locks" and was made by Warwick Goble.

The accompanying text for this illustration is: "Avenant delivered up his phial; the owl flew with it into the grotto, and in less than half-an-hour reappeared, bringing it quite full and well corked".

This beautiful 109-year-old plate is in excellent condition and originates from the first edition of The Fairy Book, written by Dinah Craik and published in 1913. The plate comes with a pre-cut high quality matboard with an indigo coloured top layer. The matboard is acid-free, protecting the print.

Warwick Goble (1862-143) was a British illustrator of children's books. In 1909, he became resident gift book illustrator for MacMillan. Among others, he produced illustrations for The Fairy Book, written by English novelist and poet, Dinah Maria Craik. She is best remembered for her novel John Halifax, Gentleman. Fun fact: Warwick Goble was the first to illustrate H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds.
